New Endeavor

So, yes, I recently bought a sewing machine. I have always had a little bit of knowledge about sewing, my Grandma was a FABULOUS seamstress. My mom said I must get it from her mom because she has had NO interest in sewing. She had her clothes made for her all of her life and could not WAIT to go buy something new from an actual department store! When we were young, we would go to my Grandma's house and always looked forward to going into her sewing room and digging in the scrap bins and filling bags and bags up with scraps of fabric. I would then go home and attempt to use my mom's sewing machine to create some sort of master piece. Well I am continuing to try just that.......

As many of you know, I love pillows! It gets to be VERY expensive to continually buy new pillows. I started making my own pillow covers even before I had my sewing machine, I did them by hand. So now that I have my sewing machine, I have been able to whip them out in no time. Here are just a few that I have done so far...

Well since I am obviously still in the baby stage, I of course had to try my hand at making a baby "something." Pictured below are some burp cloths that I have managed to make this weekend......

This is as far as I have gotten on my new endeavor.....I have plenty more ideas so there should be more pictures to come!

Carousel Ride

Thoughts on Blessings....

Have you ever looked around and really, and I mean REALLY looked at everything you have? I think all to often I take for granted all that God has blessed us with. I don't usually get deep, well, I get deep but it is not everyday that I sit down and actually blog about it on something that maybe hundreds of people look at it. Last night I layed in bed and thought about everything that has been going on around me. I follow this blog "A Window into Our World" on a pretty regular basis. Friends of ours that live in Chicago know them. Our friends had asked us to keep them in our prayers. This young couple gave birth to their little girl, Olive at around 30 weeks. They were doing mission work in Thialand. I have been following their story since she was pretty much born. Well, last night when I went to check their blog, the title; "Olive went home to be with Jesus today." My heart honestly broke, I don't even know them, and they don't even know me. But it made me think of how thankful I am for my healthy child, my healthy pregnancy, a not to eventful delivery, and the fact that I CAN actually get pregnant.

But yet again, last night I was reminded of how blessed I am. I thought about all those in Haiti. I did call the "Hope for Haiti telethon" and donated money. Was I really hoping to get to talk to George Clooney or Justin Timberlake, yes, but instead I talked to somebody named "Sam," anyone know a celebrity named "Sam?" I don't. I could not honestly sit back and watch the TV all night and not do something. I did not donate much but enough with the hope it will feed, cloth, or help a child, mother, father, or maybe even a family. We have so much to be thankful for, we have a roof over our heads, food in the refrigerator, clothes in the closet, shoes to wear, a car to drive, money in the bank, and a job to go to. I think there are times in my life that I get so caught up in the here and now and the things I need and the things I want, that God often slaps me upside the head and shows me things around me that will remind me of ALL the things in my life that I am truly blessed with. And as I finish this post I often have to go back to the verse Psalm 126:3; "The Lord has done great things for us and we are filled with joy." I am blessed with a wonderful Jesus loving husband, a healthy and joyful child, and God loving family and friends. I AM truly filled with joy.

Bath Time

Owen loves bath time. He REALLY loves bath time with daddy. I have actually come to the conclusion that he likes it much better with daddy than mommy. I (mommy) usually get the job of dressing him after his bath, Owen REALLY does not like that. The video at the end of this post would probably make you think otherwise, Owen's laugh is priceless is it, but then again daddy was right there entertaining him.......so I have told Jon that if he leaves for a night, a weekend, or maybe even a week, Owen just might not get a bath until he returns home.

Owen Waving.....

Not to much to update on Owen. We are still working on walking but he still has yet to master it. Although yesterday I was able to get him to wave "bye, bye" and of course had to catch it on video. :-)

Owen's First Few Steps!

Owen has officially taken his first few steps. We spent the day in Kalamazoo with my mom and all of my sisters and their kids. It was so much fun. While there we started to work on his walking skills.....by the end of te day he was taking a few more steps by himself than what you see in this video. Also, excuse the "no pants" we have also learned how to take our pants off during nap time.......

Owen's Favorite Room

The other day this is how I found Owen.....you can tell from the picture that he knew he was doing something he shouldn't. I usually know by now that if I cannot hear him or see him, he is somwhere doing something he probably should not be doing. As you can see he has a new favorite room......the bathroom. We now keep ALL toilet seats closed and ALL rolls of toilet paper are not where you would normally find them.
This is him crawling to me because he knew he was in trouble, I had a hard time not laughing because he some how got the toilet paper connected to him so it continued to unravel as he left the bathroom.....
